The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NIV)
Previously, in my post Turning Promises into Prayers, I explained the simple process of crafting prayers using scripture and made a case for the power that is released in persistently praying God’s Word back to Him.
Now as an example, I want to share a scriptural prayer that I wrote for use in praying for the people in my life who do not yet have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I have found that this prayer releases great faith in my heart as I regularly pray through it. And it encourages me to be persistent in praying because I know that it is both God’s will and His way for bringing people to salvation.
I would encourage you to printout this prayer and to try using it for at least seven times in praying for those on your prayer list who are not yet Christians. You can insert their names in the blanks. Be intentional, as you pray this prayer, to do it with both feeling and conviction.
A crafted prayer for those who do not yet know Jesus:
Lord your Word says that the minds of those who do not know you have been hardened and made dull, and the gospel has been veiled from their eyes. The god of this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 3:14, 4:3-4)
Therefore Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, lift the veil and remove the spiritual blindness from ________ mind, thoughts, mental perceptions and heart disposition! Cause your light to shine into their life and show them your glory and the great need they have for you. Bring conviction of sin, righteousness and the eternal judgment that one day awaits every human being. (John 16:8)
Open __________ spiritual eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God; so that they might receive forgiveness for their sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Jesus. (Acts 26:18) ESV
God, you said “Let light shine out of darkness” and you made your light to shine into my heart. Now let your light shine into ___________ heart to give them the light of the knowledge of the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:6) ESV & NLT
I keep asking glorious Father, God of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you will give __________ the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that they may know you (better). I pray that the eyes of their heart may be enlightened in order that they may know the hope to which you have called them, the riches of your glorious inheritance in the saints, and your incomparably great power for us who believe. (Ephesians 1:17-19)
I thank you Father that you have heard me. You are patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. It is your will that all should be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. I praise you Lord, the God of all flesh, that that there is nothing too hard for you! You have loved _____________ with an everlasting love and now with loving kindness you are drawing them to yourself. (1 Timothy 2:4, Jeremiah 32:27, 33:3)
I will give you all the glory and praise for his/her/their salvation! Amen

Like many of your posts, this one was timely for me. Two days ago I was led by the Spirit to begin praying for unbelieving friends of mine. Today both your blog, and a newfound online website with daily devotions, had prayers I can use to stand in the gap of faith to believe my friends will come to know Christ. I am so glad to have these prayers at my disposal and believe that they are sent from God to let me know I am on the right track in praying for my friends. Thanks for your post!
