“The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.” Psalm 37:23 NIV
With every desire or goal, from fitness to financial freedom or that dream project to addiction recovery, you name it; there are always those prescribed, yet daunting steps, one must take to get there.
This promise, to those driven in pursuit of Godly goals and by a heart to please Him, offers great encouragement that each step before us however halting, will be strengthened and established by Him as we take them.
Keeping this in mind, and knowing that every journey begins and progresses just one step at a time, let us not hesitate to trust Him and take that step of faith before us that is beckoning.
However small that beginning may seem, we are told in Scriptures not to downplay it. When God is for us and helping us, it is a victory worth celebrating (Zechariah 4:10 & Romans 8:31).
I was drawn to this photograph, Tom, as I am so many that you share. Then the message of steps was so encouraging and a truth about God’s loving character. I forwarded it to Sue Potter Freeman, (remember her? 5-6th grade teacher?). She’s a pastor’s wife at a Vineyard church in Williamsburg, VA who will likely share it in ministry.
I also sent it on to a precious niece whose son is schizophrenic and turns to drugs in desperation. She loves God and does her best to encourage Terry to look to Jesus. I suggested she share this devotional with him.
Blessing to you and Susan!.

Hi Pastor Tom, your photo caught my eye as it looks just like our treacherous steps going down to the river in back of our house!! I have to take one step at a time very carefully as I descend!
I appreciated your words on small steps as we step out in obedience to what the Holy Sprit is asking of us! We trust you and Susan and all your family are well.
Blessings
Thanks Joan for your encouraging comment. Always wonderful to hear from you. Blessing to you as well.
Thanks Judy for writing. Your words of encouragement are a great blessing! We are blessed and pray the same for you and Richard!
