Update from radioactive iodine treatment

As is often the case there were times over the weekend that I felt like the cure was worse than the disease.  By the second day the ill effects of nausea and extreme fatigue caught up with me.  But don’t get me wrong.  As has been the case over the past three months my posture has NOT been one of taking this lying down.  It has been one of fighting this thing speaking words of faith: confessing the promises of scripture, thanking God for His healing power and believing mightily in a prayer answering God.

Between 10 and 10:30 AM yesterday morning (Sunday & day 3) I experienced what can only described as a miraculous breakthrough in the Spirit.  All the symptoms left me and I was literally healthy and whole once again.  My energy, my appetite and my sense of well being were all restored.  I can only surmise that there was a wave of prayers that reached the throne of grace and God in His mercy released His healing power.  Thanks to all who have been praying.  Prayer does make a difference!!!

Today (Monday), after 18 days I can return once again to a regular diet and start taking my daily thyroid hormone pill.  What a joy!  I never realized how restrictive a diet can be when you have to eliminate everything with iodine in it.  Since salt is iodized that eliminates nearly every processed or packaged food, canned food, restaurant food, including bread, dairy, etc.  Even packaged baby carrots have sodium in them.  Who knew?  Just read the labels and you’ll be surprised.  Sodium rules!  It is no wonder that so many people have high blood pressure!

All that aside, my heart goes out to my dear brothers and sisters who endure weeks on end of chemo therapy and radiation therapy for cancer.  My momentary discomfort is nothing compared to what they must endure in their treatments battling the insidiousness of this thing called cancer.  I found the best investment of my time while feeling my own ill effects was to pray for them.  What better use of the scriptures and key prayers that God has given me these past months than to turn them into weapons of warfare upon their mortal enemy as well.

If you are interested here are the confessions and prayers of faith I have been using to battle this enemy!  See Cancer Battling Prayers or click the Resources  page for a link at the bottom or just navigate to it using the drop down menu from the Resource tab at the top of the page.

So again, thank you for your prayers.  Let’s keep battling in faith along with others who are fighting cancer.  “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us!”  (Romans 8:37)

  1. Our God, the Great I AM, is an awesome God!
Since you, Mark, and others prayed for me I have not had any nausea or anxiety related to the fear of going back to the hospital for another treatment! I started a new chemo last week, and I usually take an anti-anxiety/nausea pill before going, but this time I didn’t want to mix that pill with the benedryl I knew I’d be getting at the cancer center. I remembered Mark’s prayer over me (for my mind), and decided to trust in God, and realized later that I didn’t have any nausea or anxiety! While I still have to go through this treatment, God continues to let me know I am not going through it alone. He is with me.
I’m so glad He answered our prayers for you, and you felt released from the sickness. I pray you continue to heal and get stronger! What a great testimony we have!
    Blessings!
    Tina
